ZIne fest documentation #1
What is a zine?
You may be wondering what a zine is? I mean you hear the word zine a lot in magaZINE, and think of advertisements and gossip, but have you ever thought of one as important and helpful information? Well, that is what a zine is. Zines can be informational small books, or anything random that can be fun, or making fun of things. That's what a zine is, and what you could do with it. My group became Gender & Society with my group members Tyler, Gustavo Andre, Cayla, and Ashley. To see their take on the projects and past projects check out their DPs.

pursuasive essay introduction social topic
Examining my social topic has expanded my perspective on teen advocacy because it takes the right group of people to get what you're fighting for. I was surprised that people took on my topic because I thought most likely the older women and men would disagree. The reasoned I thought women would disagree because their time was very different from ours. I plan to apply what I learned in my personal life by educating people about the history of women's beauty standards throughout the years.
Gender & society
For our group name we came up with Gender & Society because our topics explains hypermasculinity and beauty standards. Our group consist of going over the expectations of what both genders have on each other. Guys will always want little boys to be act like "men" at a young age, which has a negative impact on their health, while women convince girls should be thin in order to be beautiful. These are where the problems begin and this is where boys start to hold emotions in than express them, and girls start to starve themselves to be thin.
Chula vista zine fest 2018
I developed into a teen advocate for my social topic by this semester by really trying to understand what my topic is about, and how generations before me viewed Beauty Standards. This made me think on how generations to come can see beauty evolves.
At the beginning of this semester I knew that women basic needs are food, water, having a place to feel safe. Women need other people’s opinions to feel accepted, they need t have status to keep up with pop culture, and to keep up with the new trends, even if it means plastic surgery. When these needs are not met some people can be anorexia, which negatively affects their health because their attempting to be thin.
